In an attempt to seal my position as the groups resident philistine, it sounds very much like she's just stepped into a cold shower.
I think you are misspelling philistine - the correct spelling I think you'll find is "sommelier".....
Another side to Vivaldi - full of verve and voom - but it does strike me as being very difficult to sing.
Hideously complicated which is why you need someone like Bartoli. She really excelled at early music with all the vocal fireworks that went with it.
For me, when I think of Vivaldi, I automatically think of Bartoli.
A fine association indeed!
But were the Ospedale residents up to performances like this, if so they were a remarkable bunch
Happily I suspect - we will never know!
Cecilia is blessed with a quite extraordinary voice.
Love this new platform with Andrew's commentaries. An additional bonus.
As ever Kit. Delighted it works for you!
A lot of notes, both to sing and to play. I wonder if Mozart got the idea for the Queen of the Night aria from this?
Who performed his operas, were they commissioned do we know?
They were definitely for public performance. I assume probably at the Ospedale della Pietà where many of his works were performed?
Sounded like it was leading into William Tell at the beginning
Yes I know what you mean - definitely a gallopy kind of sound.
