Not the best known composer of his era, Corrette was the sone of a Rouen organist but spent most of his life in Paris.
He lost his post as organist at the Church of Sainte Marie du Temple (which had sustained him most of his adult life) during the Revolution. He seems to have embraced the Revolution whole heartedly writing several musical works in praise to the movement (none of which have survived).
His chamber music is gentle on the ear and engaging if not necessarily exciting.

I endured it & am starting it again. It’s superb.
What you both said!
