Placidus von Camerloher
1718 - 1782
Born into a family of musicians, his father was the court composer in Munich home of the Elector of Bavaria, he started by training for the clergy.
However his prodigious musical gifts were recognised by the Bishop Elector of Freising who appointed him Kapellmeister there.
He composed a number of symphonies and a series of sacred works too. Here we have the Symphony of the Tempest of the Sea.
It is a lovely work if utterly devoid of dark moments and threat. More a pleasant day on the boating lake. The darker moods of music tended not to emerge fully formed until the early 19th century.
There are no known portraits of him.

Tempestuous, leavened by some gentle and jolly bits. An unusual piece. Liked it.
It’s a great name. Liked it v much, quirky at times but still enjoyable.
